ONE Act Of Kindness At A Time

It started with ONE. A child named Nathan.

And his mother who desperately wanted to help him.  Becky is a cancer survivor. Her son has Asperger's Syndrome. *See rant below.

So, a few of her friends posted blogs about Becky and her son.

Nathan uses an iPad at school. You may or may not know that technology such as iPads can greatly benefit children with disabilities. They help children with skills including:

  • language
  • cognition
  • fine motor skill
  • behavior
  • educational

Did you know approximately 40,000 apps have been developed for children, adults and seniors with special needs? You should also know that it may be possible to get assistance for an iPad if your child has a disability.

As you know, iPads are expensive and Becky wanted desperately to buy a used iPad for her son to use at home too.

True to form, I butted in. I started asking questions and reading other posts by other Tweeps asking for support. I also pitched in my own donation. Every little bit would help.

Together, we started sharing and retweeting. If you know me, I can share that shit. All. Day. Long.

And by the end of the day, @CrankyMomofTwo tweeted this:

We did it! Together. ONE act of kindness at a time.

This gave me an idea. Because, you know. That's how I roll.

What if we could pool our collective resources. We could collect used technology and/or donations to help children like Nathan by using social media.

And then, there were MANY friends who offered to help in any way they could.

What started as an idea, was culminated in a blog. We invite you to join us. We CAN make a difference for children with special needs.

ONE ACT OF KINDNESS AT A TIME.

*RANT: I would like to point out that Asperger's Syndrome is a neurological disorder, NOT a mental illness and it would be great if we would collectively stopped generalizing about children who suffer from A.S. or Autism. O.K.? Thanks.

Finally, please visit our campain page to find out how you can help.  Be ONE of us.

Be sure to link up there to show your support!

  1. I'm not sure what people are generalizing about, but I hope we can have compassion for people with neurological disorders and mental illnesses.
