I have a specific morning routine. Because I like routines. I start
the vehicle for Desi at exactly 7:30 AM every morning. He brings the
girls to school and I hate putting them in a cold car, so I always warm it up. I also hate getting into a cold car so I start it at 4:00 every afternoon before I pick up Thing 1 from school.
It was really fricking frigid here this week. As in -12 degrees not counting the windchill.
This is the time of year when you find out if your car battery needs to be replaced.
Wednesday Morning:
Hey Desi, the truck won't start and its 7:34! I can't start my day like this!
Desi: It must be the battery. Probably should have replaced it before winter.
Grrr. So. What are YOU going to do? The truck is parked behind the van and I can't get the van out unless I drive it through the bushes again. Only I can't do that because the snow bank is in the way.
Desi: Can you hook the battery charger up to the truck while I finish getting ready???
Uh. Why not. All of those years in college in the frozen tundra taught me a few useful things like that.
Later that week:
Desi: Did the truck start alright today?
Yep. It fired right up when I went to pick up Thing 1. Oh, I did leave it running for 6 hours so that probably helped.
Desi: You're kidding, right?
Nope. I started it when you left for work at 7:30. Then at about 2:30, I walked past the window and heard a weird noise.
Desi: What was it?
It was the TRUCK. Like I said. Oh. And you might need gas.
This really sounds like something I would do. Well except for the part where you start Desi's car for him. I'm not that organized in the am. But I could totally see myself forgetting to turn it off.
ReplyDeleteToo bad you don't have my Prius. You'd still have plenty of gas left over. :)
