I'm Published, I'm Poor At Self-Promotion, But I Have Books To Give Away

You know how I have that little thing on my sidebar for my book store? Yeah. Well, it's there because I'm published. Only I suck at tooting my own horn. I mean, who really likes to toot their own horn? It feels like the equivalent of waving my arms in the air and shouting, "Pick ME! Pick ME!"

The ironic thing is, I can toot other peoples' horns all day long. As long as I like their horns.

Alright. This is going down a really weird path, suddenly. Awkward.

*Handy Hint: If you're a creeper, beat it. That is NOT what I mean by "tooting horns." Perv.

I'm sort of decent at sharing things and/or people I like with other people. I like to help my friends. And I like to collect and share things I like. I think it might be called "networking" in the business world or something. In music and art, it's featuring or showcasing. In retail, it's called advertising. In Hollywood, it's called promoting. In prostitution, it's called pimping. Everyone does it. Apparently.

Whatever you or I call it; I suck at self-promotion. I don't like to do it.

Survey: Who likes to toot their own horn?

DUH. No one. Except for that dude on twitter who constantly "gifts" the same damn e-book to me even though I already have it. Like 14 times. He'll never be 50 shades of anything if he keeps giving his book away for free to the same freaking people. I know that much about self-promotion.

Woops! Tangent.

It started out (I think), when two pretty smart kick-ass ladies compiled some great and hilarious blogs for a series of books. Their first book was called No Laughing Allowed. When I heard Abby and Monica were working on 2nd and 3rd books, I invited myself they invited me to contribute. I was SO excited! Publishing some of my writing was a major item on my Goddard List. .

If you don't already own the books, you should check them out. There. I did it.

*Shameful Self-Promotion*

The proceeds from book sales of Life Well Blogged 1, 2, and 3 go to Hurricane Sandy relief. That's pretty cool. AND, the first trilogy was featured in a Jacksonville magazine. Page 34. Also cool.

Now, the second trilogy by these two criminally funny masterminds is being assembled. The first book is already out in ebook and the print version is coming soon. I feel honored to rub QWERTY's with the bloggers who have put their essays together. Did I mention a portion of the proceeds will go to Autism Speaks.

Here's the good part. I have 5 copies of the ebook to give away to my friends.

It would be great if you liked my facebook page OR
follow me on Twitter, but it's not required to enter.

To enter, just leave a comment and/or your link below.

The contest will close Tuesday, April 16 at 10:00 A.M. CT

If you can't wait until then, you can grab a copy or three from my own personal book store

Engage in a little self-promotion. Go ahead. It gets easier. Sort of.

    1. Thank you so much for that. :-) Yes, it's the time thing too. I just forget most days so then I have to have a giveaway and not promote myself only, really I am.

    1. Well, you know how I am about things like this. I always look back and find the flaws and mistakes. I'll probably just give then all away, only then the charity won't get as much help so I suppose...

  8. Ooh, goodie. I'm glad I'm not too late! Enter me in the drawing. You know I never liked self-promoting or promoting of any kind, but you know what? Somebody's gotta do it. I'm getting more comfortable w/ it & I think one lesson I'm going to teach my kids is look out for yourselves b/c ain't nobody else gonna do it. I think the whole trick is the way you go about it. There's nothing wrong w/ promotion as long as your not obnoxious or bragging. Think of it as getting the world out. People may be interested in what you have to say, esp. your friends, & if you don't tell people how will they know? P.S. I love your typewriter picture - did you make it?
